Yoga for your brain?
YES!
Let’s get scientific, just for a minute.
Did you know, your brain can literally change its physical structure and function based on input from your thoughts, emotions, behaviors and experience?
It can, and there’s a name for it: Neuroplasticity.
We used to think that the brain was pretty much fixed after childhood growth periods. Not true! Your brain changes until the day you die.
So what’s the big deal?
This means a lot for you - for your behavior, habits and emotions. Your brain is resilient and can change and be influenced no matter your age.
Are there things in your life you’d like to change? Are there parts of yourself you want to be different? Does it feel like your brain just won’t cooperate?
Your brain actually has limited resources. That’s why you fall into old habits and patterns. You get stressed (because the world is stressful!), and you shift to autopilot, often in ways that ultimately do not work for you.
Change your life by changing your brain. Through yoga.
Yes, yoga. It can help you make friends with your brain so you can use it as the valuable tool it is, rather than letting it be your master.
One way that yoga changes your brain is by reducing the stress hormone cortisol. Stress makes you anxious, unhappy, sluggish and uninspired. Simple yoga practices and poses can relieve stress.
Yoga also oxygenates all the cells and organs in your body in a way other activities can’t. Oxygen in the brain clears the mental fog of confusion that keeps you stuck and reactive.
Time to get unstuck. Like, right now.
