Create a short sweet SANKALPA statement to create strong momentum towards your heart's deepest desires.

A sankalpa is an ancient tool that you can use to remind yourself of your highest purpose and true nature. It should honor the deeper meaning of your life, your dharma, which is your overriding purpose for being here.

It means – I will be decisive. I will be wholehearted. My growth is certain. I know I will make mistakes, but I will pick up and continue. Such is the attitude of sankalpa.

It's an idea, a thought, an intention. It is a solemn vow which includes your determination to perform.

Without it, no real progress can be made.


What is cool about a sankalpa is that it's really just an affirmation of what you already are, in your highest self that you use to guide you through your life choices. It reminds you of your highest purpose as you decide your path at every crossroad in your life.

It's the fuel for your fire.

You already are who you need to be to fulfill your life’s dharma. All you need to do is use sankalpa to

  • focus your mind

  • connect to your most heartfelt desires

  • and channel the divine energy within.

The chief architect of your life is your mind. To create the life you are meant to live, you must draw your mind again and again to your dharma, your deepest intentions, and the highest qualities within you.


To find your own answers in order to create a sankalpa that can guide you through the maze of your life, use this 4 step process.

1. Start by sitting quietly, meditating for 10-15 minutes, setting an intention to connect with Source and the higher mind.

  • Say silently or aloud, “I am open to my divine intuition”

  • Let go of thoughts and open to all that is

  • Let your mind take a state of inner stillness

2. Then ask these questions:

  • How do I want to be in the world?

  • What brings me joy?

  • What do I want to experience in life?

  • What is the longing in my heart?

  • What are my gifts and how do I want to use them?

3. Ask and wait. Notice what comes up. Maybe one question resonates with you the most. If so, just answer that one. Or use them all to flush out your deepest truth.

Write down your impressions and answers. Take as much time with this as you want.

4. Then formulate a sankalpa statement in the present tense.

I am . . .

You fill in the blank. Use this formula and be sure it feels authentic and good. Inspiring.


Your sankalpa will guide you as you look forward into your daily schedule and onto next week, month or year. At each step, ask yourself what specific things need to happen to move you forward on your path.

Discovering your sankalpa is a process of listening. Your heartfelt desire is already present, waiting to be seen, heard, and felt.

Use your sankalpa and remember to call upon its energy to remind yourself of your highest purpose and true nature. Your specific sankalpa will inform you of what you need to do, and where you need to direct your energy, to make progress on your larger life goals.
